This is amazing. Read this story on “Windows Vista Capable”.
There is something one can learn about introducing a new product when you work in a highly connected and inter-dependent ecosystem. If you don’t launch on time, repeatedly, then people don’t take you seriously and won’t support your product properly. You then have to lower your standards, because the support for your product is weak, but you still want to support your ecosystem. The end result of all of this is that your customers get confusing messages and a lower quality product.
What amazes me the most is that this kind of problem can occur between Intel and Microsoft. They are called Wintel for a reason! If those two can’t coordinate their efforts, then there most be something seriously wrong there somewhere.
